[Or] you do ask [God for them] and yet fail to receive, because you ask with wrong purpose and evil, selfish motives. Your intention is [when you get what you desire] to spend it in sensual pleasures. AMP

[It is then] my counsel and my opinion in this matter that I give [you when I say]: It is profitable and fitting for you [now to complete the enterprise] which more than a year ago you not only began, but were the first to wish to do anything [about contributions for the relief of the saints at Jerusalem]. And herein I give my advice: for this is expedient for you, who have begun before, not only to do, but also to be forward a year ago. KJV

For be sure of this: that no person practicing sexual vice or impurity in thought or in life, or one who is covetous [who has lustful desire for the property of others and is greedy for gain]--for he [in effect] is an idolater--has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. AMP

Tell me, you who are bent on being under the Law, will you listen to what the Law [really] says? AMP

Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law? KJV
