Woe to you who desire the day of the Lord! Why would you want the day of the Lord? It is darkness and not light AMP

Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light. KJV

Let him turn away from wickedness and shun it, and let him do right. Let him search for peace (harmony; undisturbedness from fears, agitating passions, and moral conflicts) and seek it eagerly. [Do not merely desire peaceful relations with God, with your fellowmen, and with yourself, but pursue, go after them!] AMP

Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it. KJV

Go and learn what this means: I desire mercy [that is, readiness to help those in trouble] and not sacrifice and sacrificial victims. For I came not to call and invite [to repentance] the righteous (those who are upright and in right standing with God), but sinners (the erring ones and all those not free from sin). [Hos. 6:6.] AMP

The commandments, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not kill, You shall not steal, You shall not covet (have an evil desire), and any other commandment, are summed up in the single command, You shall love your neighbor as [you do] yourself. [Exod. 20:13-17; Lev. 19:18.] AMP

Then some of the scribes and Pharisees said to Him, Teacher, we desire to see a sign or miracle from You [proving that You are what You claim to be]. AMP

If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin crouches at your door; its desire is for you, but you must master it. AMP

Then the evil desire, when it has conceived, gives birth to sin, and sin, when it is fully matured, brings forth death. AMP

Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. KJV

For [the Servant of God] grew up before Him like a tender plant, and like a root out of dry ground; He has no form or comeliness [royal, kingly pomp], that we should look at Him, and no beauty that we should desire Him. AMP

For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. KJV

Keep praying for us, for we are convinced that we have a good (clear) conscience, that we want to walk uprightly and live a noble life, acting honorably and in complete honesty in all things. AMP

Pray for us: for we trust we have a good conscience, in all things willing to live honestly. KJV
